Hiking in Armstrong Redwoods!

Yesterday, Dale, G, and I went hiking in the Armstrong Redwoods. It was a gorgeous day (which my measly little phone camera can't capture so well) and a great 3 hour hike! I'm feeling sore in the glutes today, haha

Here's a snapshot of the trail map.
Destination: Bull-Frog pond

Dale on the way up.I think that's another guy coming back down.

We saw a bunch of nice streams and moss-covered trees.

G resting a the bridge

This reservoir supports the homes, pottery barn (literally), and Ranger stations along the trail.

Still hiking up the mountain. We started at ~200feet elevation and are working our way up to 1600feet. G doesn't look too happy and Dale is in the back.

The top! And time for a break. G brought some awesome cheese and salami sandwiches and a few oranges. Mmmm...

It was a short hike from the top over to bullfrog pond. It was beautiful! complete with fishermen, ducks, daffodils, and bullfrogs.

Heading back down the trail quickly because I have to pee! Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, the bathrooms at Bull-Frog pond were closed. That's Dale and G lagging on the trail. Hurry up!
What a great way to spend a holiday!

Fun in the Sun

It was a VERY nice day today! I decided to let Spooky out in the daytime to soak up some sun. She was loving it.

Modeling AND watching birds. She's quite the multi-tasker.

Here she's telling Clippy to "Shut Up!" He was freaking out because he didn't know who I was and I think he was trying to convince Spooky to get down from the fence.

Sit around the house = Eat a lot

Breakfast: Life cereal with 1% milk

Lunch: Ritz crackers, peanut butter & jelly sandwich (not shown 'cause I got too hungry and ate it!), a cup of Orange juice. (I just brought the whole box to work)

Dinner: I made a whole-wheat pizza with Colby Jack cheese, green bell pepper, mushrooms, tomato, and spinach. I made the dough from scratch. It wasn't as tasty as the "white" pizza dough I usually make, but it was okay. Al and I had a few slices. This is what was left over.

Snacks: Cranberry juice, tortilla chips, Spicy Doritos, a slice of Colby Jack cheese, an Almond See's Candy that was sitting on Alma's dresser for who knows how long, and 1/2 a baked potato with sour cream and Romano cheese.

I ate a lot today. Especially at night. I think the longer I sit around the house, the more I eat...

Still Messing Around with my Phone...

Ever wonder what an Engineer's cube looks like?

This is my view for pretty much 8 hours M-F.

When I need a pick-me-up, I turn to my right to see gifts from friends, cat pics, a cat toy, and my wallet falling out of my purse! Hey! Get back in there! The cat toy was a gift. I'm the resident cat-lady and everyone knows it...which probably isn't a good thing! The left view is less inspiring: a phone, reference books, and a pile of papers.

My desk is pretty darn clean compared to other people around me. Most people have parts and boxes stacked up everywhere. I took these pictures mainly for posterity. We're moving buildings in a couple weeks. We'll see how my new cube turns out.

Yesterday Food

Breakfast: Quaker Oats Cereal and 1% milk

Lunch: Peanut butter and jelly sandwich on Whole Wheat bread, Apple, Tortilla Chips, and carrots. I usually eat lunch at my desk for two reasons: (1) because I'm a sad and lonely person and no one wants to eat lunch with me and (2) I work through lunch so I can leave earlier!

Dinner: Leftover spaghetti with firm tofu added on top and some Romano cheese. The tofu added a bitter taste which wasn't so good, but the cheese made up for it. I mainly wanted the protein from the tofu. From counting calories in the past, I find that I don't get enough protein or Fiber in my diet on a regular basis.

Snack: I only had a snack after Hula class which consisted of a handful of tortilla chips and a handful of Spicy Doritos. Alma was right, I should have resisted...

Exercise: Hula dancing! My shirt was SOAKED with sweat at this class for some reason. I was super sweaty, but so were my hula sisters. We practiced our kahiko over and over and over. I meant to take a picture of my class (with my phone!) so everyone could see, but I forgot on the account that I was too sweaty :) We also practiced our otea -- which is looking pretty good so far! -- and I'm finally getting the jumping thing down. It's going to look AWESOME in July, I can't wait for Ho'ike!

Messing around

I'm still having fun uploading things from my phone! Wheee!

Here's Spooky cuddling with her blanket. It's cold in the house since the door was open for the Clippy-miester.

Here's Spooky being suspicious of the new neighbors who were (are) making loud noises. They still aren't as bad as the 2 year old...ugh!

Shipping Spooky to Korea

This was taken a while ago. She crawled in the box AND buried herself under all the packing material. Crazy girl...

Mobile Blogging is FUN!

Testing 123...Mobile Blogging is FUN! Get ready for a lot more food pictures. I'm trying to lose weight for my next Hula show -- and to just look sexy -- so I figure a good way to do that is keep track of what I eat via pictures.

This is what I had for lunch today! $5 lunch special at Novellus: Mongolian beef with steamed vegetables, white rice, 1 chocolate chip cookie, and 1 Peanut butter cookie. (actually, this is ALL I ate today so far...I didn't wake up in time to eat breakfast)

Here's dinner. Alma made some yummy taco salad: pinto beans (they're at the bottom, I made this taco salad upside down) + taco seasoning, Mexican mozzarella cheese, spinach (we didn't have lettuce), tomatoes, Tapatio sauce, and tortilla chips. I had 2 bowls like this, then ate the rest of the tomatoes and spinach plus beans, cheese, and a couple handful of chips. Sooo good.

Here's dessert (and my mail -- sorry for the crappy picture!). I only ate a handful of chocolate chips! Not the whole bag. That's non-caffeinated Chai tea with milk and a little bit of sugar.

I don't know how "un-caffeinated" the Chai actually is... I ended up staying up kind of late. But maybe that was due to the workout I had: 40min Aerobics on Netflix.

All and all, I think my protein intake was good with the Beef & beans. I think whole wheat / whole grain intake could have been better. I got probably 3-4 servings of vegetables and maybe 2 servings of fruit with the cranberry juice I was drinking (not shown). Calories might have been in range -- but I'm not counting at this point. I used to count, but it makes me feel OCD and anxious. I definitely don't like that, since anxiety makes me eat more. Plus, taking pics with my phone is still fun!!
